About Boating Safely is an 8 hr. beginner boating class which will give you the knowledge needed to obtain a boat license or safety certification in North Carolina.  Beginning May 1st , 2010, boaters in NC between the ages of 16 & 26 who are operating a power boat of 10 or more HP, will be required to have proof of approved safety education.  Many insurance companies offer discounts on boating insurance to boaters who successfully complete the course.
